So Antabuse and alcohol doesnt automatically just kill you?

You're right in thinking that it's not 'automatic' - but you'd be wrong to think you can get away with it. Even non automatic doors can slam shut.

Antabuse is used to scare a person into not drinking. For very good reasons. Antabuse disables a liver enzyme called alcohol dyhydrogenese (ADH). This means that when alcohol is consumed it is not metabolised and instead enters the blood stream as formaldehyde - essentially - that nasty stingy stuff that stinging ants have - or stuff that medical specimins are pickled in.

And that's what enters the brain and gives the worst case of headache, followed by nausea and ultimately death in the most unpleasant way.

It takes several days for the liver enzymes to 'recover' and thinking that 'I haven't taken a pill today so it's all right' is flawed and could lead to a death from that one and only drink too many,

Anybody who is thinking of drinking whilst taking Antabuse should go straight to their doctor and ask for alternative help. Do not experiment. Unless you want a horrible horrible death.

I am very nervous to take this. Im not going to drink but the acohol found in like mouthwashes and other things scares the crap out of me.
