I know it's very hard to find but I'm looking for a place to spend 3 nights with my husband and son in London!

Question

I already have the plane tickets Marseille (yes, by the way, I'm French!)- Stunsted but I'm still trying to find a hotel or a B&B. We can't spend a fortune on it, not more than 50£ a night. Any good plan, any good adress.
Last question, is there a bus or a train from the airport to the city centre?

Try www.lastminute.com they have some great bargains.
The train runs from Stanstead into central London and takes about 45 mins. Look at www.nationalrail.co.uk for timetables and prices.

We stayed in a small, basic hotel in Kensington. It was very basic, but £35 a night each and a good neighbourhood. Right near the Albert Hall and the National Exhibition Gallery and near to underground stations, so you can get all over London easy.
Try and Google some Kensington hotels...sorry i can't remember the name, but it's not such a huge district and I am sure you will find the cheap hotels there on Google.

You could try a Travel Inn, Holiday Inn Express or any similar budget hotel chain, but I suspect that you will have to re-think your budget. Assuming £50 per room and not per person......
No problems getting public transport into London.

For hotels try HRS.com - Hotel Reservation Service
It's a German run site I think but it's all there in English. You can search by city and price and I've often found some good deals on there. My bf and I went to Barcelona for a long weekend and thought it would be cheaper to book a hostel. The hostel ended up being far from what we expected and a look on HRS after the trip told us we could have had a 3 star hotel, breakfast included for exactly what we paid for the hostel! Craziness!!

Try travelstay.com or put active hotels into google. Also try Expedia. Though a little basic Youth hostels give very good value for money and have family rooms. Go on www.yha.org.uk to join and book. It might be better to pay a little more and be closer to the centre as you would save quite a bit on travel.
There are trains ever 15mins from Stansted mon to fri and buses every 30mins so take your pick. The train should be quicker but it depends where your hotel is.

Commit a heinous crime and they may throw you in the Tower of London. Then you get to see a great historic site and get accommodation thrown into the bargain. Sorted.

try www.thisislondon.com or www.londontown.com they have accomadation search engines which go by price though I doubt they will be able to find anything at the £50 mark for 3 of you.

B&Bs in central London can be as expensive as some hotels so best give them a miss

Good news is there are both train and bus links from Stanstead to central London the train goes to Liverpool st in the city of London and the bus to Victoria bus station central London

You dont say when you are coming so it is dificult to judge a cost if it is near xmas or new year you will not get anything in your price range as prices shoot up at this time of year

sorry to be the bringer of bad news but sadly it is a fact that London is expensive which is a shame as it puts people off coming here I just hope you have luck on your side as I think you would Love it here
