Is 21 grams the weight of the soul?

I've heard that the body loses 21 grams as soon as somone dies, and that this represents the weight of the soul.

Two questions: what's the source of this, and is there any truth in it? And does your soul weigh more if you're heavier in real life?

Air has weight, and exhalation weighs a few grams. I could buy the idea of losing "the breath of life."

here is a flaw in the theory presented in enufworks answer. air, when measured in air, has no apparent weight unless compressed. even if one argues that the compression of the lungs by the weight of the chest is effecting the lung pressure, it was still drawn at ambient pressure.

Actually, tests were done (see here: http://www.snopes.com/religion/soulweight.asp) where the scientist tried exhaling as suddenly as possible, with the exhaled air not producing any noticeable drop on the scale. The person who wrote this comment got 75% of the votes because answer was convenient.
