Firstly, how do u know yr dog is in pain? Secondly, if u suspect he/she is then take them to the vet. By giving him/her a painkiller, u cld mask the problem that could get worse. Seek vetinary help first.

Call your vet. Sometimes an aspirin a day-but the strength would need to be determined by the vet. NO TYLENOL OR MOTRIN. Very bad for dogs.

You should not give the dog any, over the counter medicine is designed for humans and may be too strong for an animal. You must consult a vet, get some pet insurance if you find vets too dear or go to the PDSA or RSPCA.

Do not ever use human medicationon your pet unless specifically told to by your vet. There are some excellent dog pain killers on the market like rimadyl for example or metacam, see your vet about getting what your dog needs.

If you feel your dog is in pain? Why? Giving animals medications meant for humans and even those meant for other types of animals can be very dangerous.
Yes some pet medications and human medications interchangeable but the dosage amts. reasons can be vastly different.
Dummy me, I had always had dogs, but when I found a little kitten along side the freeway............I unknowingly put pyrethroid based Flea-product on the cat that I had gotten for my Little dog.
The Little kitten went into seizes. It had to have I.V. medications as a antidote. The medication they used was very familiar to me, Methocarbamol is used for severe muscle Spain's or injuries for pain, but for me I was more aware of its usage during detox of alcohol and opiates to alleviate muscle pain common during detox.
So do you understand that use of a medication in humans, may have a completely different effect in an animal.......same as some foods.

i dont think u should give ur dog human medicine, if u cant get to the vet, i'd try some of the ones in the answers that the people here have given u. im just off to get some 4 my dog,he's sprained his foot, thanks people, 4 ur tips.

If my dog has pulled his leg running or playing then I ring the vets and tell them, they usually suggest half an asprin for him. They have suggested this when he had trouble peeing and it sorted it out over night for him....I would not advise everyone to do this though, but in an emergency it is ok.

You can give dogs asprin and paracetamol, best to ask a vet about how much. but don't attempt to give it to a cat, it will kill it.

Your dog will need its blood and liver function tested first, but even then, dogs have different metabolism to humans, do dog-specific painkillers are your best bet.

What you can get is a repeat prescription (after the relevant checks have been done) from your vet if it's an ongoing problem. That should save a bit of cash.

Usually when your dog is in pain, you take them to the vets. I wouldn't consider giving my dog painkillers if he was in pain, without first seeing the vet.
