How can I borrow an elephant?

I'm interested in organising a charity hike with an elephant.

How would I go about finding an elephant to borrow?

Two sources:
Zoo
Circus.

They both rent elephants for a fee but Zoo is your best bet because if it is a charitable event, they may even do it for free. You may have to pay for the elephant's transportation.

An Indian friend of mine wanted an elephant for the groom's procession. (I guess it is their wedding protocol). I had to pay the local zoo close to $400 for the animal's food and transportation and the mahout's time. It was worth it. Everyone had a ball.....!!

ask a zoo and say that you will advertise the zoo on the hike or a circus. you will need someone that knows how to look after it though.
