Is the Wyndham Hotel in New York City on W 58th St still open?

The Hotel Wyndham is this wonderful hotel in NYC. I stayed there 2 years ago and loved it. The address is 42 W 58th St, just a couple of blocks south of Central Park. I've been trying to call them to make a reservation for November and there is never any answer, so I'm wondering if they've closed.

Could someone maybe let me know the correct number to call?

If they are closed, does anyone have any suggestions for a great, well-located, but not too expensive hotel in Manhattan, preferably reasonably close to the theatre district?

The Sofitel is quiet yet sophostacted and wont cost the earth. I booked it on hotels.com as they have plenty of people in NYC and generally get better deals. http://deals.hotels.com/hotel.asp?city=new%20york&country=united%20states
