How is the format suppose to look like? how long do you think it will take to arrive?

For the exact postage needed, you need to go to your local post office for this information. It depends on where it's being shipped from (city & state), the weight of the contents & size of the envelope. You will need to air mail it too.

For addressing the envelope, it should read:

    Threadshed
    Beechwood Shopping Centre.
    High Street
    Cheltenham, Gloucestershire GL5
    United Kingdom

Don't forget your full return address needs to be in the upper left corner of the envelope, including :USA

Crayon backwards writing makes it look folksy.

    7-10 days, probably.

Will depend on weight of letter, a standard postcard costs 75c but you'll need to send it from the post office. (Scotsman in US so have sent letters home)

    I'd go with

    Threadshed
    Beechwood Shopping Centre
    High Street
    Cheltenham, Gloucestershire GL5
    United Kingdom

    with what you've provided. But:

    The Thread Shed
    Beechwood Shopping Centre
    123 High Street
    Cheltenham, Gloucestershire GL50 1DQ
    England

Appears to be the correct name and more exact address. As for the format, the order you list things in, there's actually no specific format. You have to have certain elements, but despite a long PDF file on placing the address block, there's no specific guidance as to the exact order of the address elements within the block.

If it's just a normal letter / envelope ("DL" size = A4 paper only fits if you fold it in 3) it'll just need an 84¢ US airmail stamp - check latest charges for the different weights at the US MAIL website: http://www.usps.com

Average time it takes for packages to reach me from my friends in the States is about 5-10days, though the current record time for one to reach me was a package of fishing lures one of my friends sent me from San Jose, Illinois (posted 21st December '04, arrived 24th December).

    to format it:
    Threadshed
    Beechwood Shopping Centre,
    High Street,
    Cheltenham,
    GLOUCESTERSHIRE
    GL5
    United Kingdom

(remember to add the end part to the post code code if you know it).

Place your home address in the top left corner of the front of the envelope, the stamp in the top right as normal.
to the centre, you may want to write

    AIR MAIL
    --------------------
    PAR AVION

Check locally for prices. It will take 1-2 weeks, unless sent by special delivery. Remember to put 'Airmail/Par Avion' on the letter. In Europe (inc. UK) only businesses put their addresses on the front of the envelope (printed), individuals (and a few businesses) put their (return) address on the back of the envelope. Check with your local post office.

That's how long it takes for my dad's letters to reach me from Florida to London.
