Why do Volvo cars constantly have their lights on even during the daytime?

I've always found this to be a little weird and offputting especially if a Volvo is driving behind me!

Volvo's aren't the only ones. Many cars are manufactured this way for safety reasons. Statistically, they're involved in less accidents.

Safety...it makes the vehicle more noticeable. It's not just Volvos either.

It is a Swedish thing they are very strict on road safety. I used to drive Saab's they had daylights too. I think daylights are a tremendous idea and I am very surprised that they have not been made compulsory in all countries.

maybe they have those light sensitive ones,where it can tell if its dark or overcast the lights come on!volvo are the safest built cars in the world

drive lights a lot of cars have specific 'daytime' or drive lights but volvos use the same.. mine does too and i drive a chevy malibu.. it annoys me and im driving the thing!! haha

they are called daytime running lights and it is for safety. thats why motorcycles have their lights on all the time

in Sweden it is the law. All cars must keep their lights on at all times

Not al volvo's have this though, on most volvo's there is a way to disable it (a small switch somewhere)
